About

Informal coaching is the academic concept and research area investigating the processes and impacts of spontaneous, less structured developmental interactions occurring naturally between individuals within a system, particularly within organizational contexts. It examines how these naturally embedded dialogues, distinct from formal coaching programs, facilitate learning, skill development, problem-solving, and performance enhancement through real-time feedback and guidance exchanged during day-to-day activities. Characterized by its immediacy, context-specificity, relational embeddedness, and reliance on trust, its significance lies in its pervasive influence on individual and collective efficacy, organizational culture, and capacity building, representing a critical, often tacit, mechanism for human resource development and performance improvement.
